Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star… {Family and Children’s Photographer in Golden & Denver, CO}

I always make a plan. I feel like that is part of my job… to have a plan. I think about the family, location, time of day, weather and age of children, type of shots I am going for, etc… and I always make a plan for our session together. But, I most often photograph children… and I have learned time and time again that is it less about the plan I make and more about watching and being ready with my camera when unscripted moments happen and they ALWAYS do.

Truthfully, I don’t think I have EVER fully executed on my plan (not sure why I make one sometimes! HA!) and I love that… because I thrive on capturing the interaction, the play, the love, the genuine moments and each family I capture is uniquely that… a family! It makes every session one of a kind. Priceless.

So, this summer I photographed the O’Shea family and about half way through our session… that unique family magic appeared, when Trevor (AKA: older brother) began teaching Lauren (AKA: Little Sister) the song “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”… complete with hand motions he learned at school. Unsolicited. Not Bribed. 🙂 Such a sweet, real and tender moment. They were not in a location I had planned shooting at, not doing something I could have ever thought up in “my plan”…. and it was perfect! I love that.

Nothing is better than that family magic. Just have to always be ready and watching…

Thank you O’shea’s for letting me be a part of capturing it all!

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star… such a sweet moment. 🙂

My favorite from our session together. This one needs to be a HUGE canvas. LOVE!
