The Geil Family. {Denver and Golden, CO Family and Newborn Photographer}

I love waiting for my sweet, little newborns to be born. I anticipate the email that announces “our baby is here” and jump with excitement when I hear there has been a BIRTHday! YAY!

I often get asked how I schedule newborn sessions, since we are never quite sure when they will make their appearance… πŸ˜€ So, here is the scoop: We go through and officially book a newborn session well before the baby is born and leave the session date TBD. I just filled it in with your due date and then ask the new mom or dad to include me on the “our baby has arrived” e-mail/text… or just simple drop me a note saying “KATE! Guess What? Baby is here!”

I typically leave room in my schedule for newborns, esp when I know a due date is nearing and we just schedule from there. And since, as you know, I don’t “pose” babies or put them in baskets, etc. (those photographers that do ideally look to photograph them within the first seven days.) I get a bit more flexibility with capturing that newborn newness! I like to think if I can capture them within the first 3 weeks, we can still grab that yummy newborn feel as you cradle them in your arms. Sigh.

I truly find it such an honor to watch parents welcome a new child into their lives and capture all the goodness! Just like with the Geil Family! They recently added a sweet new baby boy… going from a family of three to a family of four… and ya know what? I spent one sweet morning with them and now, well… I can’t help but think they are the sun, moon and stars! Such a great crew and they opened their home to me and now I am smitten for them. Check out this new to Denver Crew. πŸ˜€ I have a feeling you will be smitten too!

Thanks for everything Geil Family… I hope our paths cross plenty! XO!

ps- these two are high school sweethearts. I love that! <3

What beautiful imagery! You have the most amazing style….from the casual observer, it may seem easy to just hang out with a family and be able to capture intimate moments, unique angles, strong community composition….and everything perfectly exposed. As a fellow photographer who has done many home sessions, I know this isn’t an easy task…but you make it look like it is. Awesome, amazing session.
